Programmable function buttons
The switching status is indicated by coloured LEDs through the translucent control buttons – in the picture the open garage door (yellow) and the activated call silencing function (red).
Some buttons are pre-assigned with commonly required functions and inscribed accordingly. However, function buttons and status LEDs can also be individually programmed. If a button is assigned two functions, a single press of the button activates the first function, two presses of the button activates the second.

Video memory
The internal memory and an optional memory card can be reached directly from the main menu. Using the list, the stored pictures are selected and accessed as required.
The memory automatically archives a picture of the entrance area every time the call button is pressed, but can also be manually activated.

A standard commercially available SD memory card (accessory) extends the capacity of the internal memory and allows the pictures to be transported to a PC if required. This can be used for permanent archiving or transporting of images.

Intercom function

The handsfree telephones achieve an excellent standard of speech quality. Their intelligent electronic control system largely suppresses echo effects, background and disturbance noise. Result: A clear, distinct transmission even several metres into the room.

Due this excellent standard of communication, the extended functions of the deluxe models open up a number of interesting additional uses: As the deluxe devices are capable of conducting calls from one device to the other, forwarding calls, automatically picking up calls and even initiating group calls, they can be used without any additional expense to create an internal PA and communication system.

This function can be useful in a variety of situations:
- In houses or apartments with several floors
- Between main buildings and annexes
- In surgeries and practices
- In waiting rooms
- For persons who are bedridden or have restricted mobility

Zoom and image control
In the screen menu, the joystick acts as a navigation and control element. If the menu system is not activated, it is used to manipulate the picture extract. In its basic setting, the monitor displays the entire camera picture.

The input button at the centre of the control element enlarges the picture excerpt ...

Image control
... the direction arrows shift the focus of the picture to the required area. Using the function menu, the selected image excerpt can be permanently saved. Otherwise, when next activated, the monitor returns to the basic setting. If there are several video telephones connected, the image control is individually selected and saved for each monitor. Every user receives its own individual image selection.

Screen menu
The joystick-style control element of the deluxe model conceals a wide range of functional options which only appear when needed – and are amazingly easy to operate: The joystick accesses a menu system. Using four direction arrows and an input button, it navigates through the on-screen display.
A status line along the bottom of the screen provides context-dependent operating instructions.

Pressing the right-hand button of the control element opens the main menu. If an image is displayed at the time, it remains visible. The upper and lower button navigate through the menu points, while the central input button opens the highlighted submenu. There are seven menu languages to choose from: German, English, French, Italian, Dutch, Danish and Swedish.
Loss of connection in WLAN

Addition to the functional description
27/07/2012

Description:
The Siedle App has been started and is active in the background. It still temporarily fails to receive and signal incoming calls in the wifi. In the most unfavourable case, it can take several minutes until the App returns to its correct function.

Background:
The iPhone or iPad moves out of reach of the signal and so loses the connection to the wifi. Although the connection is automatically re-established, in the most unfavourable scenario it can take several minutes until the App is once again able to receive and signal door calls. This behaviour is caused by the terminals and their operating system: For Apps which users actively access, the connection to the wifi is automatically established again if required. For Apps which run in the background without user activity, logging back in can take several minutes. During this period, the App cannot be accessed.

Recommendation:
The App should not be used as the sole indoor station, but should be supplemented by an additional call station. This can be a Siedle station or a landline phone connected via the TC interface. We recommend that each integral residential unit is fitted with an additional call station which works independently of the wifi.

Version: from V. 1.0

Planned change:
As the reason for the problem lies not in the App itself but in the terminals, it is difficult for us to have any influence over repair of the problem.

Remedy:
If the server is connected to a TC system, if the App is unattainable, the call function is automatically activated: The iPhone is called from the telephone network.
The call function is not available for the iPad.
App accessibility

Functional improvement with V 1.2
06.12.2012

Description:
Occasional problems with communication using the app with the Access server have been remedied in V. 1.2. This fix has eliminated the sporadic program crashes which happened in the previous versions. However, it can still happen that the app cannot always be reliably accessed. According to our current knowledge, this applies to all apps which run in the background without active intervention of the user.

Background:
Correct function of the app cannot be guaranteed under all circumstances. It depends on factors such as the ambient application conditions and characteristics of the mobile terminal and its operating system. We are working continuously to improve both the app itself and its connection to the server, but there are certain factors over which we have no influence.

Recommendation:
Because the link to the door is of relevance to safety and security issues, the app should not be the only internal station. Mobile connections, whether via wifi or mobile telephony, can never achieve the degree of functional security of a link via a cable or DECT. The app should therefore be augmented by a further speaker unit. This can be a Siedle station or a landline telephone connected via the telecommunications interface. We recommend an additional speaker unit per closed residential unit, operating independently of wifi and mobile telephony.
Speech connection also over mobile networks

Functional upgrade with version 1.2
06.12.2012
table>

Description:
The new version allows conversions to be held with visitors at the door using a mobile phone connection. In the previous version, this was only possible in wifi. Video transmission and door release were already able to function using all connection types.

Remark:
The App uses the mobile phone network data channel. Some mobile phone service providers do not permit voice transmission over the data channel. Whether a connection is established depends on the conditions of the operator and naturally also the signal quality in the reception area.
Siedle is only able to guarantee that the app functions reliably.

Version: from V. 1.2

The function upgrade has been added within the framework of a free update which has been available in the App Store since December 6, 2012.
Update to V. 1.3

The update to V. 1.3 improves accessibility and also speech quality. The App is also compatible with the iPhone 5.
13.06.2013

Accessibility:
To prevent loss of contact in foreground and background operation, the connection to the server is permanently monitored and maintained. This closes a remaining accessibility gap.

Audio quality:
Improved echo cancellation has tangibly improved the app's speech quality.

Compatibility to the iPhone 5:
The new release is in conformity with a retina resolution of 1136 x 640. The app fully utilizes the larger screen surface of the iPhone 5.

Update to V. 1.3.2

The update to V. 1.3.2 makes the app compatible with the new Apple devices.
20.01.2014

Compatibility with new terminals:
The Siedle App will now be compatible with the iPhone 5S/5C and the iPad Air/mini with retina display.

Optimization processes:
- Change of connection from 2G to 3G / wifi to 3G with no break
- KNX switching points can be configured on the dashboard
- Timeout after 60 seconds with camera observation
- Bug fixes and other minor improvements: Switch actuation in demo mode, setting of the ring tone volume in foreground operation, more stable app start-up behaviour etc.
