SRH Holding (Heidelberg Rehabilitation Foundation) set out a catalogue of very specific requirements to ensure the barrier-free design of its building. The facilities had to be accessible without problems to wheelchair users and visually impaired clients. A free-standing pedestal from the Siedle Steel range first greets visitors approaching the main entrance. The integrated communication terminal clearly indicates from afar what its purpose is: Touching the monitor takes the user to a menu which displays a list containing the relevant contact. |

The major extension work to the Kreissparkasse at the same time entailed regeneration and upgrading of a whole urban area. The ensemble made up of the existing and new sections of the building is highly sympathetic to the proportions and structures of the surrounding development, in particular in the way it breaks up the building mass into individual volumes. Looking to the outside, there is a clear demarcation of the area, towards the inside, it opens into generously dimensioned garden-style courtyards.
