Security during periods of absence

Holiday homes For many home owners, additional convenience and more security within their own four walls are becoming ever more important issues – not only in the main residence but also in their holiday home. After all, most holiday homes are occupied for only a few weeks a year. Nobody wants to arrive on holiday to be faced with an unpleasant surprise.

Most holiday home owners have no desire to turn their homes into a fortress – after all their own space should have a welcoming feel. This is why there are discreet ways of protecting an empty home from unwelcome guests.

Absent but still present

Security services and the police are well aware: Many burglars ring first on the doorbell to find out if anyone is home. If anyone answers over the intercom, they lose interest. What the unwelcome visitors cannot know: Siedle intercom systems can be operated by mobile phone. The Siedle DoorCom interface links door communication with telecommunication.

This allows a door call at the holiday home, say in the South of France, can be forwarded to the home owner's mobile phone – for example to Hamburg. Home owners can talk to the visitor as if they were standing inside the house. And if it is just the neighbour calling to check that everything is OK, the door can even be opened from your mobile phone

Every movement is registered: Movement sensor module and lighting

Unwanted visitors like to work at night or in the twilight hours. And they don't like to be disturbed. This is why even a carefully engineered lighting concept combined with movement sensor modules can make a home more secure – for instance using path lights which switch on as soon as anyone approaches. Safety experts recommend movement sensor modules in the entrance and terrace area and wherever anyone could attempt to enter: for instance by windows at the back of the house or on the roof of a garage adjoining the house.

Everything in view: Video cameras can be a deterrent to unwanted visitors

Intercoms and one or more video cameras have become a standard feature in many high-end homes. Experience has shown: Simply the obvious presence of a camera is often enough to ward off unwanted visitors. And video cameras take security to a whole new level, even if the occupants are home. This is the only way to see who is at the door without being seen yourself.
